Counting W's for Week 15

By: Atma Brother #1 of Golden State of Mind

Warriors Weekly Rewind
  • Game 46: Warriors 107, Rockets 111- International superstar Yao Ming must've really gotten tired of Al Harrington and the Warriors shutting him down. There was no stopping the 7'7 big man and the Warriors poor 1st quarter didn't help things one bit.
  • Game 47: Warriors 116, Hornets 103- Who would've thought that on the second road game of a back to back after dropping a tough one in Houston the Warriors would come out and snap the top notch Hornets' 9 game win streak? I did. (Thank you! Thank you!)
  • Game 48: Warriors 127, Bobcats 96- It was great seeing fan favorite Jason Richardson make his return to the Oracle. It was great seeing Chris Webber reunited with Don Nelson in Oakland 14 years after that decade plus long curse. It was great seeing all those retro The Blog tee's on GSoM Night III. It was also great seeing the Warriors come out with such amazing intensity and force that the Bobcats simply could not match.
We're 48 games into the season and the Warriors boast a very impressive .604 record. As of Thursday night they're only 4.5 games out of 1st place in the mighty Western Conference. That's quite an accomplishment. It's also quiet amazing when you consider that the Warriors still have a very home heavy February schedule left to play. In fact the Warriors only have one trip away from the Roaracle this entire month. Let's take a look at what's on tap this month...

Thursday, February 7: Warriors vs Bulls
The Golden State Warriors, Don Nelson, Chris Webber, and Charles Barkley all on national television. I don't think it gets any better than this! The last time this happened it was the 1994 NBA Playoffs 1st Round matchup between the Warriors and Suns. I can guarantee you that Barkley will not be going off for 56 points this time around.

As far as the game this isn't going to about the sub-.400 Bulls vs the .600 Warriors. It's going to be about the Dubs coming out in full force and putting the whole hoops nation on blast for the recent Baron Davis All-Star snub. This team understandable feels pretty disrespected after getting no representation in the entire 2008 All-Star Weekend, but that's just more fuel for their fire. Nellie's crew thrives in the role of the underdog and this week's TNT NBA Thursday is just the beginning. This team wants the whole world to know that they're a force to be reckoned with. It's a big statement game, particularly for Davis, Stephen Jackson, and Chris Webber who wants to show everyone he still has plenty left in the tank. If I were the Bulls there's a million other places I'd rather be than Oakland this Thursday night.

Here's another historical twist to this game. The Warriors will be starting their #1 overall pick (via trade) from the 1993 NBA Draft in Chris Webber. On the opposite frontcourt the Bulls will be starting the Warriors #1 overall pick from the 1995 NBA Draft in Joe Smith. Seriously, this game is just one big fairy tale. You couldn't ask for a better set of storylines.

Don't forget to play the CWebb Contest!

Prediction: 1 more for the W column

Saturday, February 9: Warriors vs Kings
The hottest discussion revolving around this Saturday night between the fanbases of these two Northern California teams won't be this game. In fact this game should be a fairly easy W for the Warriors and former King legend Chris Webber even though Sac's squad is playing good ball as of late. The hottest item will of course instead be the rumors about the Warriors and Kings making a trade revolving around Ron Artest. Consider this game one big tryout for the players of both teams. Don't be too surprised if Nellie makes some odd substitutions and the minute distribution in the boxscore looks a little funny afterwards. It's a Saturday night showcase.

Prediction: 1 more for the W column

Overall Week 15 Prediction: 2-0
