Counting W's for Week 10

Warriors Weekly Rewind
The Warriors closed off 2007 winning 3 out of their final 4 games:
Here's to another Unbelievable, Unforgettable, and Unstoppable Baby run in 2k8!

Wednesday January 2: Warriors @ Mavericks
You know the drill. We Believe. We OWN the Mavs. They are In It to Win It. (Memorize these lines and repeat daily.)

There's no better way to get 2008 started for the Warriors than beating the Mavs on their home floor in Dallas. Something tells me the Dallas crowd isn't going to give the Warriors a very warm reception, but that's fine. Look for Stephen Jackson to once again shut down last year's MVP and Baron Davis to dominate the Dallas backcourt. That's the easy part.

The hard part will be finding someone to match Mavs forward Josh Howard's production and defend him well. On offense the Mavs have changed up their strategy and given Howard a bigger role to lighten Dirk's load. The Warriors dominated the Mavs in last year's unthinkable playoff upset, but Howard still provided very nice, solid, consistent production. He's the last Maverick that should be blamed for losing that series and he'll be the hardest to stop on Wednesday night.

Other keys will be Monta Ellis and Al Harrington elevating their games to make up for the absence of Jason Richardson. They both struggled against the Mavs in last year's playoffs and they'll need to step up if the Warriors and their fans are going to continue to Believe against this arch rival. Should be a fun one!
Prediction: 1 for the W column

Friday January 4: Warriors vs Hornets
The Hornets were an up and coming team last year that were very good when healthy. Unfortunately that wasn't very often as they lost the most games to injury in the entire league. They've been much healthier this season and they've take a big step forward. 2k8 should be the Hornets first time to the playoffs since they gift wrapped Baron Davis to the Warriors at the 2005 trading deadline.

When people think about the Hornets the name Chris Paul comes to mind and rightfully so. However don't overlook what the two Hornets big men Tyson Chandler and David West are bringing to the table nightly. Combined these two players are dropping over 30 ppg and grabbing over 21 rpg. They make the Hornets tough inside both on offense and defense. Unless the Warriors shoot the lights out from outside, particularly forwards Al Harrington and Matt Barnes, it's going to be a very tough game for them. The Warriors just don't match up well to the Hornets and Paul should be able to approach Baron Davis' line if Monta is on him. Let's pray for some hot shooting!
Prediction: 1 for the L column

Overall Week 10 Prediction: 1-1
